If you're short on time or need a little more creative inspiration, using Webflow templates is a terrific way to jump-start your website development.
It's crucial to familiarize yourself with Webflow fundamentals with our introductory Webflow 101 Crash Course to utilize templates to their full potential. To get started with your template, you'll need to understand the Webflow UI, the fundamental components of the web, and the principles of placement and layout, all of which are covered in this course.
Recognize The Operation of Webflow Templates
To help you get started with design more quickly, Webflow provides a sizable selection of both free and premium responsive website templates for designers, companies, and personal usage.
Once you've decided on a template—free or premium—it will be uploaded to your Dashboard as a brand-new project with all of the template pages included. From there, you may add as much or as little customization as you like to your template.
*Utilize your template to begin
WordPress uses themes to assist style designs, which you may be acquainted with if you've ever used it. Themes for WordPress may be used with data and content that are already included in a WordPress design.
The behavior of Webflow templates differs from that of WordPress themes. The style and layout of a Webflow template won't take the place of an already-existing website or project in your account automatically. Templates may need to be customized and provided as is.
You may import CMS Collection data or copy and paste components from existing projects in your account to your new template-based project to expedite this modification.
*Restrictions on imports of collection items
You might need to add or upgrade your site plan if your template-based project doesn't already have a CMS or Business site plan to import a CSV containing more than 50 Collection items. Check each hosting plan's collection item restrictions.
*Pages allowed
Your template-based project can only have two pages if you have a free Webflow Starter account plan and no Site plan has been added to it. All the pages in the purchased template are still accessible and editable (unless you have deleted them). However, until the total page count is reduced to under 2 pages, you won't be able to duplicate a page or add a new page to the template-based project without first upgrading your account plan, adding a site plan to the project, or removing every page in the template.
You may still modify the template's current pages even if you're not yet prepared to include a site plan in your project.
Please get in touch with us so that our support staff can assist you further if you get a page limit problem after adding a site plan to your template-based project.
*Template assistance
It may be difficult to change templates that employ a lot of interactions, custom menus, and popup modals at first if you are new to Webflow. However, you can contact the template creator for assistance if you need support for your template (and many template designers include help documentation within their templates).
*To contact the template creator for assistance:
Firstly: Go to the template's page in the Webflow template store.
Secondly: When you reach the template, scroll down (the template designer might have specific support instructions in this area)
Thirdly: If the template designer didn't offer explicit help instructions in the Overview box, click the Support tab and write feedback.
Be Mindful of Licensing and Template Use
Every bought template has a single-use license, allowing you to use it only once for one project.
You will need to buy a new license if you wish to use your bought template for a different customer or project (by purchasing the template again).
*Duplicating your template will enable you to achieve this:
Enter the settings for your template-based project.
Select "Duplicate" from the menu (read more about duplicating projects)
Select whether to use the template for the same client or project (in which case you won't need to buy a license again) or for a different client or project (you will need to repurchase the license)
Every template may be altered (add, alter, or remove text, images, graphics, layout, design,.. you can do all of these) to the requirements of your project.
Try Out Templates Before Buying
Before deciding to buy a template, you may preview it in the Designer. So that you can make sure the template meets your design requirements, we strongly advise doing this.
Locate the template you wish to test in Webflow's template marketplace.
To open the template in the Designer in a new window, use the "Preview in Designer" button.
By clicking the eye symbol, disable the preview.
To obtain a sense of the components and design structure contained in the template, click on the Pages panel and Navigator.
If you like what you see, return to the template's page in the marketplace and click the Buy button to buy it.
Selecting Free Templates
