How to Use Canva to Design a Logo

What do logos bring to brands?

We don't live in a monochromatic world. People are attracted to interesting and colorful designs. Logos marked on product packaging or accenting storefronts should be designed to capture the interest and curiosity of potential customers, at least they should look and hope that they will buy your product.

Neptune's logo design impresses consumers with the image of a white-bearded king wearing a crown and holding a trident.

But Logos are only a small part of your branding strategy. A logo is seen as a symbol that can provide consumers with immediate and powerful recognition of your brand, business, and products or services

So today, I'll show you how to design a logo for your brand with Canva, Let's started.

How to use Canva to design a logo as your wish?

Step 1: You can search for an available logo in Canva like this

You can see that most of the logos are 500 px x 500px, however, if your logo is a special size and you want to adjust it you can click on the Custom Size box, there will be a small window like that. This appears for you to adjust the size as you like:

Step 2: Let's get to the design!

In my opinion, we should choose the background color first, which will help us shape the icons as well as the brand name color in the next step. To choose the background color, you can click on the white design box, the icon will appear on the left corner of the screen, you click will see the custom color palette as follows:

You can choose the default colors or get creative with new colors in this section.

Step 3: Once you have chosen the background color, you should start designing the brand name. To do this, press the "Text" box on the toolbar on the left side of the screen. Here, Canva provides you with a variety of font templates, you just need to click to choose a template or create a new one and choose your own font.

To edit the title, simply click on the text box you want to edit. Immediately on the screen, a toolbar will appear so you can adjust the font, font size, color or formats such as bold, italic, underline, align, .. as your wish.

Step 4: You can add a symbol for your logo. Symbols are used to indicate the deep meaning of the logo and the symbol is also representing a part of the brand through the logo.

To select the symbol you want, click on the "Elements" box in the black toolbar on the left. Then to search for the desired icon, type in the icon's theme in the Search bar. For example, if I want to find a symbol related to a cake, I will type "cake" in the search box. I recommend typing in English for more diverse results!
It only takes a few seconds and you have hundreds of icons to choose from. A small note is that if you are using the free version, you can only select icons with free text that appear when clicked. For images with crowns, only Canva Pro accounts can be used. However, you do not need to worry because the free icon store in Canva is also very unique and rich.

After you have found the icon you like, click on the icon and adjust the size and position accordingly. In addition, you can also click on the icon to change the color to suit the background and title

Step 5: After editing the color and shape of the icon, my logo is basically finished. Please check the logo one more time then download and here is my example logo:

How to create a new logo from an existing logo template?

Step 1: If you look through the toolbar along the left side of the interface, you will see a "Templates" box at the top, click here and type search for the theme logo you want. The results below are after I typed in the search "bakery logo". When you click on the logo you like, the results will appear as follows:

Step 2: Let's get to the design as instructed above, edit the colors and fonts as you wish

Step 3: After editing the color and shape of the icon like in step 5 above, my logo is basically finished. Please check the logo one more time then download and here is my example logo created from existing logo template:

Conclusion:

So in just a short time, you have created your own logo templates without spending money on hiring people as well as without downloading complicated photoshop software. Logos now become even more meaningful when not only representing your brand but also bearing the personal imprint of the person who made it.

I hope the above sharing will be useful to those who are passionate about design but lack a great tool. Don't hesitate to experience being a designer with Canva. See you in the next post^^
